Benefits

  • Cross-channel attribution: View performance and attribution data for your paid Reddit traffic directly within your Analytics interface.
  • Centralized management: The third-party linking page provides a centralized view of your connected accounts.

Use-case supported

  • Import campaign data: You can import campaign data from Reddit Ads to populate “Ads cost”, “Ads clicks”, and “Ads impressions” metrics for your paid Reddit traffic.

Before you begin

Important: Google Analytics standardizes currency handling for imported campaign data that includes cost. All financial data pulled from Reddit will be automatically converted to ensure accurate aggregation across your data, even if your property currency settings change.
  • Reddit setup: You need to have at least the Analyst role for Reddit Ads.
  • Analytics roles: Have at least an Editor role in the Google Analytics property.

Import campaign data from Reddit Ads

Important: Reddit Campaign Data Import sources created using this guide will attempt to pull at least 24 months of historical Reddit Ads data into your Analytics property. Using this feature alongside previously uploaded manual cost import datasets can lead to duplicated data and inaccurate reports, as Analytics does not attempt to deduplicate information between these 2 methods. If you have existing Reddit campaign data that would overlap, delete those prior datasets before proceeding with this feature.

Follow these steps to import campaign-level metrics like cost, clicks, and impressions from your Reddit Ads account.

Prerequisites

Make sure the following URL parameters are included in the destination URLs for your ads in Reddit:

  • utm_source (required)
  • utm_medium (required)
  • utm_campaign (optional, but highly recommended)
  • utm_id (optional, but highly recommended)
Note: All of your paid Reddit traffic should be tagged with a single unique value for utm_source and a single unique value for utm_medium. When creating a Reddit Campaign Data Import configuration through this flow, the values entered for "Campaign Source" and "Campaign Medium" must exactly match these utm_source and utm_medium values. For example, if all of your Reddit paid traffic is tagged with utm_source=Reddit and utm_medium=paid, then you would enter "Reddit" in the "Campaign source" field and "paid" in the "Campaign medium" field.

Step 1 of 4: Create a new import source

  1. In Admin, under “Data collection and modification”, click Data import.
Note: The previous link opens to the last Analytics property you accessed. You can change the property using the property selector. You must be an Editor or above at the property level to successfully start the import process.
  2. Click Create import source.
  3. Enter a name for your import source.
  4. Select Campaign data as the data type.
  5. Under “Upload data for import”, select Reddit as the import source.
  6. Click Next.

Step 2 of 4: Set up connection

  1. In the “Set up connection”screen, click Connect to link Reddit as your import source.
  2. Sign in to Reddit Ads by entering your Reddit user credentials in the pop-up window.
  3. Click Log in.

Step 3 of 4: Configure the data

  1. Select the Reddit “Business” and “Ad account” which manages the Reddit advertising data that you intend to pull into your Analytics property.
  2. Provide “Campaign source” and “Campaign medium” values corresponding to the utm_source and utm_medium parameter values included in the destination URLs of your Reddit ads. Learn more how to locate parameters in Reddit Ads.
Note: Values added for "Campaign source" and "Campaign medium" must align with the utm_source and utm_medium parameter values that you specified on your destination urls for Reddit Ads campaigns.
  3. Click Next. Fields will be automatically mapped for you in the next step.

Step 4 of 4: Review your connection and import

  1. Review all of the fields to make sure that the fields that you want to import are included. You can modify your import source name, import schedule, and any filters that you applied.
  2. Click Finish.
  3. You’ll get confirmation that your import source has been created.
  4. Click Done.

Imports can take up to 30 minutes to complete and up to 24 hours for the data to be available in reports. You can also view the values of previously created connectors via the Data Import table or its details window.

Note: After a connector is created, you won’t be able to modify configuration settings relevant to data pulling such as Ad Account, Source, and Medium. To change these parameters, you must delete the older connector and create a new one.

Locate parameters in Reddit Ads

  1. Log in to your Reddit Ads account.
  2. For each ad, check whether utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and utm_id are specified in the destination URL.

You will need these parameters to import campaign data from your Reddit Ads account.
