Circle to Search on your Pixel

Important: This feature is currently available for Pixel 6 and later.

You can search anything on your screen with your Pixel phone or tablet with Google without the need to switch to another app.

Search content with Circle to Search

To use Circle to Search:

  1. At the bottom of your screen, touch and hold the Home button or navigation handle.
    • The Google Search bar and a gradient glow will appear.
  2. Circle, highlight, scribble, or tap the image or text that you want to search.
  3. Google search results will appear on the lower half of your screen.
    • To get more info, you can tap the lower half of your screen to expand it.
  4. When you’re done and want to return to your original app, you can:
    • Swipe down.
    • Use the back gesture.
    • Tap X at the top left.
Tips:
  • To adjust your selection, drag the borders of the selection or the entire selection.
  • To interact with content blocked by the search bar, you can either:
    • Use a two-finger pan to move the window.
    • Drag the search bar to the top or bottom of the screen.
  • To translate your entire screen instantly, next to the search bar, tap Translate.
  • Check for photo transparency with automatic detection to know whether photos are real or not.
    • You can check if a photo is an original or if it's been modified in some way. Learn how to get more info about an image.
      Tip: This feature may not work in some apps, such as banking, medical, and other confidential apps.
Find the look with Circle to Search

Important: This feature is only available on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a, Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It’s also available on devices that support AI Mode and AI Overviews.

To find the look of an entire outfit:

  1. On your phone, circle the entire outfit you want to search.
  2. Tap Find the look. Google breaks down every piece of the outfit.
  3. In the search results, scroll down to find individual matches for every part of the outfit.

Tips:

  • If the find the look button does not appear, type “find the look” into the search bar and tap enter.
  • For best results, choose images where clothing items are clearly visible.
  • Avoid images of outfits with multiple layers or partially covered elements.
Try it on with Circle to Search

Important: This feature is only available on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a, Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. This feature is currently available within Australia, Canada, India, Japan, UK, and US for logged-in users. Users must be 18 years or older to use this feature and accounts must have Web & App Activity and Search Personalization turned on.

To try on items virtually directly from Circle to Search:

  1. On your phone, use Circle to Search to find a clothing item.
  2. In the search results, tap an eligible product or image.
  3. Tap Try it on. If you don’t see the button, that item isn't eligible to try on.
  4. Give it time to load to see how the clothing looks virtually.
    • If this is your first time using the feature, follow the prompt to upload a photo of yourself as a reference or choose a model.

Tips:

  • Try it on may not work with all images. Lingerie, bathing suits, and accessories aren't supported.
  • This feature is not available for Shopping Ads so products under “Sponsored” will not have the “Try it on” button.
Translate as you scroll with Circle to Search

You can translate webpages and apps as you scroll.

To translate as you scroll down a page or switch apps:

  1. At the bottom of the screen, touch and hold the Home button or navigation handle.
  2. Tap Translate and then Scroll and translate .

Tip: Translation works for most content types like webpages, messages, and social media, but not videos and GIFs.

Use Circle to Search in the Camera app

Important: Circle to Search in the Camera app is only available on Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

You can use Circle to Search directly from your Pixel phone’s Camera app to quickly search for info about objects around you.

  1. Open the Camera app Google Camera.
  2. Point the camera at your subject.
  3. At the bottom of your screen, touch and hold the Home button or navigation handle.
  4. As you point your camera, circle the object or text that you want to search in your viewfinder.
  5. Google search results will appear on the lower half of your screen.
    • To get more info, you can tap the lower half of your screen to expand it.
  6. When you’re done and want to return to the Camera app, you can:
    • Swipe down.
    • Use the back gesture.
    • Tap X at the top left.
Get AI Overviews with Circle to Search

You can get AI Overviews with Circle to Search based on your text or multisearch queries. Circle, highlight, scribble, or tap an image and then type your additional query in the search bar, where “Add to your search” text appears. Learn more about multisearch.

  • If you're in the United States:
    • AI Overviews are available by default on multisearch queries.
    • To enable AI Overviews for text queries, you need to opt in to "AI Overviews and more" in Search Labs. Learn more about "AI Overviews and more".
  • If you're outside the United States:
Turn off Circle to Search
  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings.
  2. Search for Circle to Search.
  3. Tap Circle to Search.
  4. Turn off Circle to Search.
Troubleshoot the "Screen search isn't available" error

To use Circle to Search on a supported Android device, make sure that:

  • Your permission settings are correct.
    1. On your Android phone, go to Settings Settings.
    2. Tap Apps and then Default apps and then Digital assistant app.
    3. Make sure that:
      • Google is set as the default Digital assistant app.
      • You turn on Use screen and app data.
  • Your Google app is updated to the latest version.
    1. On your Android phone, open the Google Play app Google Play.
    2. At the top right, tap Profile profile picture.
    3. Tap Manage apps and device and then Manage and then Google app.
    4. If you see the label "Update available," tap Update.
