I have been using Crunchyroll in India for a while now, and honestly, the app itself is fantastic. The user interface is clean, the streaming quality is buttery smooth even on mobile data, and the subtitles are timed perfectly. It’s easily the best way to watch anime legally without dealing with pop-up ads or sketchy sites.The pricing for the Premium subscription in India is also incredibly affordable and offers great value for money compared to other streaming services.However, the only thing keeping this from being the perfect 5-star app is the library size. While we do get some big hits like One Piece and Vinland Saga, a lot of titles available in the US or other regions are still missing here. It would be really nice if we could get anime like Attack on Titan and Neon Genesis Evangelion. The best thing about Crunchyroll now is the price. 999 INR per year for the most premium subscription is wonderful.Cons - the collection of anime isn’t good enough. Netflix has a much larger collection of anime along with shows from other languages and stuff too. I know it may not be a fair comparison, but if Crunchyroll wants to be the go-to anime streaming platform, there should be a lot more anime. There are several anime which start from later episodes and not the first episode (like Prince of Tennis, the old show), or just have the summary movie editions listed as seasons (Mobile Suit Gundam) and so on. The collection is also quite disorganised so browsing is a pain.Language options are all mixed up, and sorting by subbed still shows dubbed anime. Please add an option to select audio language in settings so we can hide anime that aren’t available with the audio preference we (in my case Japanese) want.Also please add an option to hide or remove shows from browsing or mark them as watched/completed.There’s a lot of potential though and I hope Crunchyroll continues to improve. I would be willing to pay up to 2000 INR for all the features and changes I’ve suggested if they’re implemented well.

Crunchyroll is the best place to watch anime. The plan is too good to miss. Although bumping to almost double for downloading is too much in my opinion, only $ more would mean everyone would basically want to be mega fan since they can download episodes. But the review is not about service itself, just the app.The app is not good, loons very barebones and almost 60% of the features like calendar, news etc are missing, what hurts the most is that there is no manga section, just add manga in the main app and call it a day, why have manga in separate “worse” app than this? Besides lack of features there is a lack of Picture in Picture which is the main reason I go the extra mile and open the website. Add pip and at least the calendar with a feature where we can get reminders for new episodes so that we watch it asap and not get spoilers from the web. The app looks good but so does crunchyroll beta web page, that thing is a beauty, this app ? Not so much, looks very bare bone, it’s more than Netflix for anime, it is the anime app if there ever was one and being the top of the food chain you have to create an app that looks like an apex predator not a cheap low budget mess.
